On November 27 half the world is going to be having a Black Friday. On this day the greatest orgy of consumption of the year is celebrated, promoted by a system which causes great damage to both the environment and human beings – in order to hide the great dissatisfaction we feel in our lives under a pile of bags filled with products that we do not need (and of course behind even more debt), for the greater glory and greater profits of multinational corporations.
We want to flip this whole situation around and make this a day of life, solidarity and cooperation; the day we recover our humanity through actions that reconnect us with our sense of community, with the clear objective of moving towards a society whose cornerstone is the common good. To this end we open the doors of FairCoop and the new economic system we are creating together, and turn the most important day of capitalist consumption into #FairFriday.
Therefore on this day we invite you to share, exchange… basically enjoy a day without buying anything. For sure near where you live events are being developed along those lines, and if not we invite you to create your own, and of course you can access our directory (Use Faircoin) and support all the projects that believe in a better world.
But it doesn’t stop there, because the day before in the US is of course Thanksgiving, which over the years has been distorted from its essence and has become just one more day of over-consumption. Therefore we want to reclaim this day and its meaning. Through #FairgivingDay, we would like to promote the sharing of acts of solidarity and humanity to everyone. There are many things you can do and we invite you to tell us what you’ve been up to and fill your networks with stories of solidary and fair actions!
Because one act of solidarity and cooperation fills us more than 10 bags full of plastic!
